We made our way through Fusilier’s Arch and walked onto famed Grafton Street, a pedestrian plaza filled with restaurants, shopping, pubs and local street performers. Two of the performers who got their starts busking along Grafton Street are also two of our very favorite Irish singer / songwriters: Damien Rice and Glen Hansard. Unfortunately we did not get to witness them performing, but we did see many other musicians along the street as well as other street artists including magicians, jugglers, unicyclists and human statues.
- People walking down Grafton Street
- Men dressed in black posing as statues
- An artist created a new and different dog sand sculpture every day
- One of the first postcards we saw in a shop on Grafton
After walking up and down the street taking in everything, we soon realized that we were hungry and made our way to The Duke Pub, a pub just off of Grafton Street located on (you guessed it) Duke Street. Rumor has it that a young Bono used to frequent this establishment, but we were there for one reason… well, two reasons… to have some lunch and to have our first pint of Guinness and see if it really does taste better over there. (It does)
Kevin enjoyed his first pint greatly…
