We picked up our rental car on Sunday morning, excited to start traveling around the country, but also quite nervous about driving on Irish roads that are notoriously narrow and treacherous. We decided that our first excursion wouldn’t be that long of a drive, approximately 75 miles that should take about 90 minutes. We had a GPS and felt semi confident that it would guide us there without issue. We were wrong. For some reason it directed us to a different Castle Street than the one we wanted so we did lose some time. We determined where we needed to go and headed off in the right direction.
Fortunately, the start of the drive was on a main highway as we’d picked up our car in South Dublin, but once we traveled a bit further south and west, the roads got narrower and we were faced with oncoming traffic. It was a bit scary at first, but I quickly got acclimated and was soon passing people who were driving too slowly (most likely American tourists!)
