After breakfast, we decided to visit The Great Blasket Center in Dunquin, the western most point in Ireland.  To get there, we traveled along the Slea Head Drive, a circular route that begins and ends in Dingle.  We made multiple stops along the drive, the views along the way were absolutely breathtaking.  We stopped at Ventry Beach, where there were people swimming and walking their dogs.  I got to play ball with a sweet yellow lab, who stayed with me for the entire time we were there.

Slea Head Drive is yet another narrow road that runs along a cliff next to the water.  By this point in our trip, I’d been driving for 5 days, and was quite comfortable behind the wheel.  We knew to look ahead on these winding roads and see if there was any oncoming traffic, and if so, to wait at a narrow part of the road and let them pass.  As a result, I’d never had to back up along one of these roads.  Until today. Here’s a short video clip of why we ended up having to do so.  When you’re on the wrong side of the road, driving on the wrong side of the car, it gets confusing as to which shoulder you should look over when backing up along a cliff by the sea.  I’m happy to say, we survived.

Here are some photos we took while on Slea Head Drive.  It’s difficult to choose which ones to post because honestly, it’s so beautiful, they’re all amazing.  I can’t believe there are places on earth that are so magnificent.
