We’d read the reviews in travel books and online forums and simply could not wait to stay at this here. The reception area is very welcoming, there is beautiful art throughout the house. (Miro prints in our bedroom, along with many original oils on the staircase and in the public rooms) The rooms are gorgeously furnished, very comfortable and spacious. Everything was wonderful, but the highlight of Castlewood is easily the fantastic breakfast included in the rate.
To say the food was delicious is truly an understatement. The buffet selections are amazing – they really take fruit to teh next level with offerings such as pears poached in red wine and orange juice, poached plums and more. The choice of hot cooked to order foods is fabulous as well, everything from a full Irish breakfast, to omelettes and of course, their renowned pancakes. Making our dining experience even better was the music playing; string arrangements of contemporary songs by U2, Springsteen, Nirvana and more. These were the two best breakfasts we had on our entire trip. This is a perfect guesthouse.
