When researching places to visit in Dublin, we realized that although the city is quite compact, walking to some sites would take quite some time. We looked into the different options for public transit and learned about the Dublin Hop On, Hop Off double decker bus tour. The bus travels around the entire city making multiple stops at tourist attractions and places of interest. With your ticket, you can get on the bus at any of its stops and get off at any other, and the ticket we bought was good for two days – perfect for us.
The first bus of the day left at approximately 9:30a.m., so after we had breakfast, we walked over to St. Stephen’s Green which was the closest stop to us. We boarded the bright green bus and planned to take it to Kilmanhaim Gaol, but realized very quickly, that it would make far more sense to hop off at the Guinness Storehouse first as it was the stop just before the Jail.
The driver commentated along the route as we passed other sites in the city, and we learned a great deal. Here are a few photos taken of the city from the upper deck of the bus as we traveled around the city.
